Mariano Amodeo 1887-1965
Mariano Amodeo was born on November 6, 1887 in Termini Imerese, Sicily to Francesco & Maria (Graziano) Amodeo. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters--Salvatora (1881), Biagio (1883), Mary (1889) and Diego (1894). When he was only 15 he emigrated on "The Konig Albert" from Naples, arriving at Ellis Island in New York on April 29, 1903, there is a column on the manifest labelled "Whether going to join a relative, and if so, what relative, their name and address". Mariano's answer was "His uncle Amodeo, Ignazio 556 Queen St. Toronto Ont". This would seem to suggest that Ignazio lived in Toronto at one time, although he appears to have died in Termini Imerese. The manifest also says he had only $20.00. At the age of 25 he married Maria (Mary) Cuccio, on Oct 13, 1912 in the New York City, NY. They had 3 sons--Frank in 1913, Bill in 1914 and Jim in 1916. They had celebrated 52 years of marriage before he died at the age of 77, on February 6, 1965 and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto. Maria Cuccio 1895-1978
